Ryan Murphy's "Monster" anthology series is back for a second season that will focus on Lyle and Erik Menendez, who were convicted in 1996 for the murders of their parents, reported Deadline.

In addition to the scripted series, Netflix will also reportedly have access to the real brothers for a forthcoming documentary feature.

The new season is expected to hit Netflix in 2024. An announcement of the show's focus on the brothers included a 911 call where Lyle can be heard crying into the phone as he tells the operator that his parents have been shot.

With their parents killed in 1989, the brothers were not suspects initially in their killings until police began investigating their potential involvement.

"Erik eventually confessed to his psychologist Jerome Oziel, who told his mistress, Judalon Smyth," Deadline reports. "Smyth would become a key witness in the brothers' trial. During the trial, the brothers said they'd committed the murders out of self defense after a lifetime of abuse from their parents, particularly their father."

The brothers were tried separately initially, with both cases resulting in a mistrial. Then they were tried together and found guilty, sentenced to life without parole. They are still incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Southern California.

All in all, Netflix has ordered two more installments of Murphy's "Monster" after the success of Dahmer. No word on what or who the third season will focus on.
