10 Insta-Reasons We Love Michael Graceffa
Timothy Rawles READ TIME: 10 MIN.
Michael Graceffa is arguably the best-looking dancer in tear-away pants and a bow tie in Hulu's 2022 limited series "Welcome to Chippendales." You may also remember him as the ex-boyfriend Rhys, who throws a wrench into the budding romance between Howie (Bowen Yang) and Charlie (James Scully) in "Fire Island."
Although his moment was brief in "Fire Island," his breakout role as Richie, a stripper in "Chippendales," happens to be a perfect role since Graceffa is also a dancer. In fact, he told website The Perfect Man that despite acting being what he prefers the most, dancing will always be his first love. His aunt owned a dance studio in his hometown of Waltham, Massachusetts and dancing was also therapeutic on those rough days during childhood, and he would often go into his bedroom, shut the door, and "dance it out."
We have gathered some of Graceffa's most intriguing Instagram posts that show off more of his best features.
Art is subjective, so when you see a piece like this you have to wonder to which medium it belongs. The body says sculpture, but the banana says modern art. Together they create a cross between Michelangelo and Andy Warhol. But there is no getting around how delicious that perfectly placed banana looks in this snapshot by New York photographer Jun Lu.
In this photo, Graceffa is getting up close and personal with his gym buddies. The actor and dancer is also an athlete as he was the captain of both the cross country and lacrosse teams in high school. In fact, Vassar recruited him to play lacrosse in college. But he traded goalies for the glitz and glamour, and now his playing field is in the competitive sport they call Hollywood.
When Billy Porter is celebrated at a special event, you show up. This is exactly what Graceffa did for Porter's Out Magazine cover story soiree last month. Clad in a leather motorcycle jacket, black pullover, and heavy chain necklace, Graceffa looks like he is ready to take on the night. He says there were endless espresso martinis too, so there was definitely fuel to keep him going.
With his highly teased pompadour and clean-shaven face, Graceffa is almost unrecognizable here. This retro style is for his role in "Welcome to Chippendales," which takes place throughout the '80s and into the early '90s. He plays Richie, one of the troupe dancers that helps the brand become an international success. "It was truly a gift I'll cherish for friggin eternity...thank you to the endless amt. of people who believed in me and helped me get there and all the people that made me feel so special and enough on set xo," he says in the post.
