Now on Starz, 'Minx' Announces July Premiere Date

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

After being canceled, "Minx" is back and has announced a premiere date on Starz.

Variety reports "the period comedy has officially moved over from HBO Max, the second season will premiere on July 21 at midnight on the Starz app, app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. On linear, it will debut on Starz at 9 PM ET/PT in the U.S. and Canada. The first season is currently available to stream on the Starz app."

"Minx" aired its first season on HBO Max beginning in March 2022, and was renewed in May. But in December, HBO Max canceled the show just before Season 2 was to finish filming in a cost-cutting move, while also pulling Season 1 off the service.

But in a surprise move, Starz picked up the well-reviewed series for its second season.

Per the official description, the series "centers around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. In season two, Doug and Joyce grapple with Minx's explosive success, which brings more money, fame and temptation than either of them know how to handle."

What made the show a queer favorite was its cheeky period comedy and full-frontal male nudity, which included making an internet sensation out of actor Taylor Zakhar Perez. On the show he plays Shane Brody, a firefighter and aspiring model who gets the magazine's first centerfold due to his good looks and generous endowment. But, Zakhar-Perez admitted to Entertainment Weekly, he wore a prosthetic in his full-frontal scene.

He posted a doctored photo of himself to promote the show before its premiere on Instagram. "Now that I have your attention. 2 new eps tonight on @hbomax @minxonmax," Taylor captioned the video.

He did get the attention of Instagram, who removed the post because it "goes against our Community Guidelines on adult sexual solicitation... We don't allow people to facilitate, encourage, or coordinate sexual activity on Instagram."

He wrote on his Instagram Stories, "Guess you'll have to go to @hbomax to watch."

Entertainment Weekly adds: "While Perez is ready for Shane – whom he describes as a ' '70s snack' – to hit the screen, he still has some understandable hesitations about how exposed his character is on the show."

"I haven't been this excited for a show in a long time. The world's just really going to enjoy it. I think it'll be shocking at first," Perez said with a laugh. "But I think when my mom sees it is when I will be a little freaked out."

Apparently he got his mother's approval because he's back for the second season. Watch the trailer to the first season below:
