We finally have a new Superman! Fans exploded with excitement last week when it was announced that rising star David Corenswet was cast as the next Man of Steel. Still, in-tune entertainment enthusiasts have seen the 29-year-old hunk in a few other roles in the last several years leading up to his big break in the iconic superhero franchise.
Corenswet appeared in episodes of the popular shows like "Elementary" and "House of Cards" in the late 2010s. He most recently was a recurring character in the HBO miniseries "We Own This City," created by the same team behind the critically acclaimed, legendary police drama "The Wire." Corenswet's biggest movie role was as the hunky projectionist in the campy horror flick "Pearl," starring Mia Goth.
With nearly a half million Instagram followers, Corenswet shares some of his best professional and intimate moments with audiences worldwide. His fans will keep growing as more people become curious about Superman's life, so let's take a look at some of our favorite posts from the actor.
Corenswet commemorated the release of "Pearl" in September 2022 by showing these gorgeous pictures with his castmates, notably Mia Goth, in the first slide. Corenswet's blue eyes matched his blue outfit perfectly in these pics. Fans have flooded his comments sections to congratulate him on the role of Superman, with memes and short GIFs of the hero littering the captions under the photo.
Corenswet looks incredible in this summer photo from August 2022 when he went swimming with his dog. The actor humorously captioned the image with a comment about how he went fishing and caught the pet all by himself! One person in the comments said the actor already looks like Clark Kent, Superman's alter ego, when he isn't in costume saving the world.
Corenswet shares some still shots of his time on the show "We Own This City." The actor looks hunky and authoritarian in the role of David McDougall, a narcotics officer in Baltimore, Maryland. Corenswet was one of the new actors on the show, as many of the other stars of the miniseries were veterans of "The Wire."
This thirst-worthy post of Corenswet shows off the actor's handsome physique amidst a beach backdrop in December 2020. Some fans are critical of Corenswet's lack of bulk to play the role of Superman, but we think he looks more than fine! Hopefully, he can block out the noise and the hyper-critical folks below the photo.
Corenswet tells us that he has a tight bond with, presumably, his father in this adorable photo of him as a child. Many fans gave him condolences for losing his father; we hope that the actor has allowed his dad's memory to live on and inspire him to greater heights in his career and personal time.
Corenswet has some fun during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by keeping things loose and free while encouraging social distancing and safety during the illness's prevalence. He looks like he definitely has that Superman balance in the bag going back to 2020!
Corenswet looks like he'd make for a good pilot in his next movie after posting these suave and swagged-out photos onboard an airplane. This spread was in the New York Times in January 2020. The wink in the second photo definitely caught the attention of several thirsty commenters below the pictures!
This adorable photo of Corenswet is a professional shoot from Man About Town Magazine. The actor looking up to the sky made some fans think of Superman coming down from the heavens to save them from the bad guys!
Corenswet gets in the Christmas spirit in this video of him playing a holiday jingle on the piano while wearing a sleeper perfectly in tune with the season. Nobody could identify exactly what song he played in the video, but we appreciate the effort!
Corenswet gets just as starstruck as the rest of us, showing off his fun time with the legendary Jessica Lange in October 2019. Lange is most known to younger audiences for her role in "American Horror Story," but she also won an Academy Award for her role in the '80s gender-bending comedy "Tootsie." Corenswet and Lange worked together on the Netflix Ryan Murphy series "The Politician" a couple of years ago.
More of the David Corenswet with his dogs is a combination we can get excited about! This old photo shows Corenswet with an adorable puppy in May 2018.
Fans were once again impressed with Corenswet's ability to play the piano in this awesome video of him tickling the ivories in December 2021. Maybe a musician moment can occur in his Superman cape, too?
