Judge Cites Supreme Court Ruling to Deny Gay Weddings

The fallout from the Supreme Court's recent ruling in favor of a Colorado wedding website designer who opposed to same-sex clients is already taking effect.
As reported by Jezebel, a Waco, Texas, judge is now suing so she does not have to perform gay wedding ceremonies.
In 2019, McLennan County Justice of the Peace Dianne Hensley was publicly warned of violating Texas' code of judicial conduct when she refused to perform same-sex weddings. Not Hensley is suing the state, claiming she is being punished for acting in accordance with her religious faith and forcing her to perform same-sex marriages "substantially burdened" her free exercise of religion.
Her lawyer is Jonathan Mitchell, the man behind Texas' abortion ban known as S.B. 8 and "counsel for the Texas man suing his ex-wife's friends for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills," Jezebel reports.
Mitchell not only opposes gay rights, he said in a Supreme Court brief that Obergefell v. Hodges is a court-invented right that is just "as lawless as Roe [v. Wade]," Jezebel reports. He is also arguing that insurance shouldn't cover PrEP drugs.
Unfortunately, there seems to be more cases of this nature to come.
