The Most Compatible Zodiac Signs, According to Astrologers

For hundreds of years, astrologers have looked to the stars to try to make sense of our love connections here on earth. Given that zodiac signs can explain some personality traits, the thinking goes that our charts can also indicate which signs are most compatible.

Brides magazine enlisted the help of two experts to make their best recommendations: Colin Bedell, the author of "Queer Cosmos: The Astrology of Queer Identities and Relationships" and Lisa Stardust, the author of "The Love Deck."

Of course, both astrologers are quick to point out that connections can be forged between any of the signs. "It's been my experience as a professional astrologer that all zodiac signs can come together and have long-lasting relationships," Stardust told Brides. However, "Bedell suggests that all of us can benefit from learning about our opposing sign, utilizing these insights to bring more harmony into every love story we choose to explore," the magazine noted.

Here are Bedell and Stardust's take on which signs are best suited for romance:

Aries and Libra

"Just like striking a match, sparks are bound to fly when fiery Aries and Air sign Libra come together. According to Bedell, if these two are willing to appreciate and learn from their differences, they'll create an unstoppable blaze of chemistry. Every sign has a planet whose energy influences its behavior, and with independent Mars in charge of Aries and harmonious Venus ruling Libra, Bedell is confident this pairing will 'give each other the balance of autonomy and connection' every relationship needs to thrive. Whereas Libra can help Aries become more considerate and engaged in the community, he says Aries will frequently need to remind their Libra love, 'Babe, [it's okay to] take care of you, too.' "

Gemini and Virgo

"Outgoing Air sign Gemini can find grounding and strength in a romantic partnership with the organized Earth sign Virgo. Meanwhile, a Virgo can loosen up with the help of a carefree Gemini. 'These mercurial signs will share laughs and memories throughout the years because they'll be loyal to the other,' says Stardust."

Taurus and Scorpio

"Taurus, an Earth sign ruled by Venus, is drawn to sharing tactile beauty, while Scorpio, a Water sign ruled by transformational Pluto, craves intensity and exploring what hides beneath the surface. As Bedell points out, the contrast here is exactly what makes this particular pairing so ripe for growth. Libra and Leo

"A Libra and a Leo are a dynamic and effortless romantic pairing. 'Both zodiac signs have big hearts and love to be romanced, making them cheerleaders of the other,' explains Stardust. With Leo's bold personality and craving for the spotlight and Libra's proclivity for balance and beauty, they can complement each other to make a positive power couple."

Gemini and Sagittarius

"An Air and Fire sign pair, Gemini and Sagittarius have all the ingredients for a relationship full of fireworks, foreign lands, and emotional inquiry. Taurus and Capricorn

"Earth signs can also find balance and partnership with each other. Steady, luxury-loving Taurus and driven, family-focused Capricorn are a stable and loving match. Aquarius and Sagittarius
