Drag and recording artist Adore Delano, who has starred on both "RuPaul's Drag Race" and "American Idol," let her followers know in a video posted to Instagram that she's transitioning and has never been happier, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Saying there's been "a lot of talk about my body and questions about my gender" online, Delano, 33, shared the affirming news, saying that she's found her transitioning experience to be "enlightening" and "liberating."

The "Drag Race" Season 6 and "Drag Race All Stars 2" star explained that she's been taking estrogen for three months, but that she kept it "hush hush" until now, because, she said, "I wanted to go through, kind of like, the beginning stages of the puberty privately," noting the physical and mental changes that are part of the experience.

But, Delano confided, "I've found that it's been very enlightening and has made me probably the happiest I've ever been in my adult life."

The performer went back to the beginning, saying that it had all started "when I was a little kid, just not feeling like I belonged anywhere at all, didn't know what this body was that God gave me, thought that I would just make the best of it.... but it was just not enough for my mental stability." She went on to describe coming out, first as bisexual and then as gay, and finally as trans, and living as a girl in her high school years. She also acknowledged the importance of her mother's support.

Delano described how, despite having come out and lived according to her gender identity earlier, she "suppressed" her authentic self when she became an "American Idol" contestant. "I threw it away, I burned it.... I reinvented myself into something that was so uncomfortable. It was almost like a sacrifice in order to get what I wanted career-wise."

"It made sense to me at the time, as a 16-year-old, and then I got on the show, and then that carried on in the story on 'Drag Race.'"

She also spoke of her sobriety journey, which she's now two years into, noting that "the feelings of just being an absolute other gender that I did not physically see in the mirror become more prominent when you're sober."

Now that she's given up substances, "including weed," Delano said, she's "dealing with my feelings... and I'm taking care of myself, and I feel beautiful."

Delano went on to add: "This is a feeling of dysphoria to euphoria," and though she's "not completely there," she's "on the stairway to Heaven" at this point.

"I'm not kidding when I tell you I'm so chill," she went on to say. "I love life again."

Her fellow drag artists offered love and support in the comments.

"I'm so happy for you could BURST" exclaimed "Drag Race" judge Michelle Visage.

"Love love love this 🧡" Gigi Goode added.

"I'm so proud of you," Peppermint declared. "Welcome home sis."

"I accompany you on any journey," Courtney Act posted. "I love you forever. My ride or die!"

"So proud of you angel," added Bimini Bon Boulash. "I wish you all the best and can't wait for another Kiki with you."

Jinkx Monsoon and Kandy Muse posted strings of heart emojis. The "RuPaul's Drag Race" account even jumped in with five heart emojis.

Delano shared some additional news, telling fans "I'm going to be having surgery in November, so I'm probably going to look a little different." She said that she'll be undergoing further "major" surgical procedures early next year.

And, in case there was any ambiguity, Delano stated her truth plainly: "I am transgender."

"I'm going by she/her," Delano said, adding that "she/her just feels yummy on this cupcake - even though I don't like frosting."
