After his son Robbie said he wants to see him compete in the Olympics, Tom Daley will return for a bid at Paris 2024 after a two-year break. The BBC reported that after "opting against returning for this year's World Championships, where the first batch of Olympic qualification quota places were on offer, it was widely thought Daley was planning to officially call time on his career."

But after a visit to the Olympic and Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs, USA with his 5-year-old son Robbie, Daley changed his mind.

"Paris 2024 is definitely a goal," the Olympic, world, European and Commonwealth champion said in a YouTube video he posted on July 29.

In the video he explains how he and husband Dustin Lance Black traveled to Colorado Springs for the birth of their second son Phoenix in April. It was there that Daley discovered Colorado Springs was nicknamed "Olympic City USA" and was the home of the US Olympic Training Center.

The visit to the Olympic and Paralympic Museum with Robbie made him realize he wasn't done with diving. "I don't think I was ready to kind of hang up my trunks and move on with that part of my life," he said. "...and especially when my son Robbie said to me, 'Pappa, I want to see you dive again in the Olympics.'"

He continued: "That has kind of hit a new flame and fire inside me to want me to see where this goes. I don't know where this is gonna go. I don't know if this is going to be a completely silly idea of me getting back in the pool or it's going to be an opportunity for me to be able to have a bit of fun like I do recreationally without any of the pressure and then see where I go. See if my body is able to get back up onto a diving board and dive any half-decently. I don't know what that's going to be like. I thought that was something worth [documenting]... Paris 2024 is definitely a goal. I don't know if it is going to [be] possible but you never say never."
