Madonna Super-Sizes Her 'Celebration' Tour with 40+ Songs, More

It's almost time for the launch of Madonna's "Celebrations" Tour – and the word is that the show will include a whopping 40+ songs from her decades-long career.
Moreover, according to the BBC, the set list will act as a "documentary through her vast career," and include "greatest hits" that aren't necessarily songs, according to musical director Stuart Price.
"A greatest hit doesn't have to be a song," Price told the BBC. "It can be a wardrobe, it can be a video, or a statement."
The news outlet recalled that the massive tour had originally been scheduled to launch in July, but was delayed several months thanks to an infection that hospitalized the 65-year-old music icon.
The Material Girl is now fit and ready, Price said. "The person that is going to take the stage looks incredible, sounds incredible, performs incredible," he declared, adding that the delay had provided extra time "to further enhance the show."
Price told the BBC that Madge "has very high expectations of how much hard work people will put into something," with those expectations being "very uncompromising – but she's equally as hard on herself."
The tour begins this Saturday, Oct. 14, in London, at the O2 Arena, Billboard reported.
"The O2 launch will be the first of six shows at the venue, where Price noted fans will not see a band on stage for the first time since the beginning of Madonna's career," the music magazine said.
"There are live musicians that perform at different parts of the show," Price said. "But what we realized is that the original recordings are our stars. Those things can't be replicated and can't be recreated, so we decided just to embrace that."
"Since she burst onto the UK charts with 'Holiday' in 1984, Madonna has scored another 71 hits, including 13 number one singles," the BBC detailed. "Some, like 'Vogue,' 'Like A Prayer' and 'Ray of Light,' are era-defining anthems. Others, like 'Live To Tell' and 'Don't Tell Me,' are beloved fan favorites."
Price noted that putting together a show that includes so much of the "Like a Virgin" singer's catalogue was a "big challenge," and the BBC explained that some selections "will be played in full, some will be interpolated into other songs, and still more will be used as 'bridges' between acts."
"In two hours, can you get all of it in? That's hard," Price said. "But every great moment she's had, we took a bit of it."
