Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Officiating at Chris Appleton & Lukas Gage's Vegas Wedding
READ TIME: 3 MIN.
On this week's episode of "The Kardashians," Kim opened up about officiating the recent wedding between her hair stylist Chris Appleton and "White Lotus" actor Lukas Gage, reports the Daily Mail.
Early in the episode (which dropped today on Hulu) Kim talked to Chris about the wedding, observing that the 40-year old celebrity stylist was in love.
"Chris Appleton has been doing my hair for a really long time. He's like my hair husband, and he just got engaged to Lukas (Gage), his boyfriend. I have never really seen Chris this smitten and happy. It's just like a whole different situation for him," Kim said on the broadcast.
Appleton first went public in February about his relationship with Gage, whose career is on the upswing since he appeared on first season of "The White Lotus" as a randy hotel worker who has drug-fueled sex with his boss, played by Murray Bartlett. Today reported that "Gage and Appleton sparked dating rumors when they posted photos on social media from their joint trip to Mexico."
Asked by the New York Times in March about the relationship, Gage said that "If they (fans) want to think that, they can. I'm a pretty open book about most things in my life, but I have a problem with the culture of everyone needing to know everybody's business and nothing can be sacred. It's a weird line that I'm still trying to figure out."
But on an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show later that month, Appleton came clean about his affection for Gage. ""I'm very happy, very much in love," he told the host in March. "And I feel very grateful to be able to share my time with someone very special. Love is a really special thing, and I think meeting someone you connect with is really, really special."
Appleton and Gage asked Kardashian to officiate the wedding, which took place in Vegas in April. In his IG post announcing that he had wed Gage, Appleton gave thanks to Kardashian and country superstar Shania Twain.
As a surprise for the couple, Kardashian arranged for Twain to serenade the couple. Enroute to the ceremony, they stopped at a Vegas nightspot where Twain sang her 1997 hit, "You're Still the One," a song Appleton and Gage are said to be obsessed with.
"I feel so privileged to be a part of your special day,' Shania said, before calling for a group hug with Chris, Lukas and Kim.
As they're leaving, Lukas said, "Oh my God, Kim, I f***ing love you, I cannot believe you did that," as Kim screamed back at Shania, "Shania forever!'"Chris and Lukas scream, "Shania! We love you!"
On "The Kardashians," the happy couple are seen landing in Vegas on Kardashian's private jet. "We are in Vegas, and we're about to get married," said Chris. In the limo he asked Gage if he's ready for this. "Born ready," was his reply. "I'm only gonna do it once," added Chris.
After leaving Twain, Kardashian, Appleton and Gage head to a Vegas wedding venue called the Little White Chapel. "They all take photos in front of the chapel as Kim wonders if they can, 'look up records here,' referring to her first marriage 23 years ago," writes the Daily Mail.
Kardashian confessed that she had never officiated before and hadn't prepared. "Guys, I have never done this before and I haven't even rehearsed so they printed this out for me and I'm gonna wing it, because that is where the magic happen," Kim said at the chapel.
As the ceremony began, Kim added: "First of all, I'm so honored that you're both trusting in me to do this. You both have such big hearts, and the advice that I can give you is always have each other's backs."
"Kim pronounced them both, 'happily married' as they all walk out of the chapel, adding in confession, 'This was so much fun," reports
the Daily Mail.
"Like, I married my first couple, we put so much love in the world. I'm so happy for them," she added.
