Watch: Glen Powell Shares How he 'Almost Died' In Frenzied Cliffside Stripdown

Sizzling "Scream Queens" star Glen Powell opened up about how a comic moment in his new movie – in which he rips off all his clothes at the edge of a cliff – was nearly a fatal catastrophe.
The "Top Gun Maverick" hunk co-stars with Sydney Sweeney in the upcoming rom-com "Anyone But You," in which the two actors – playing what Variety described as "arch nemeses" – fly all the way to Australia for a wedding and then decide to pretend they are a couple even though they can't stand each other.
As is inevitably the case in a rom-com where two people loathe each other, the antipathy is rooted in attraction, and the duo's elaborate fake PDAs – in which they caress each others' backsides, among other things – only stoke the fires.
But in one such moment, Sweeney's character, Bea, produces a huge spider from Powell's shorts, leading to the frenzied casting-off of clothing. Stark naked, Powell's character, Ben, rues his overreaction as Bea manages to ensure she is spider-free without shedding a single wardrobe item.
But capturing the moment of panic on film nearly led to a real-life emergency situation, Powell revealed to Variety, telling the publication, "Nobody talks about that safety issue on set, where I almost died falling off a cliff taking my pants off too fast."
"But it's a really fun scene," Powell added, "so it was all worth it."
For Sweeney, too, evidently – even though she arguably came away from the scene in even more distress than Powell, since the live spider she was handling bit her.
Sweeney called the bite "a whole thing," adding: "And then we have the part of Glen bending over and me checking to see if there are more spiders."
Sweeney quipped: "I'm very acquainted with Glen now."
And half the planet is very envious. Check out some of the "Devotion" star's hot Instagram thirst traps to see why – and enjoy the full trailer for the new film, which features Powell in the buff and is included in the first of the Insta embeds that follow.
