"Call Me By Your Name" director Luca Guadagnino might have found his newest muse in "Challengers" actor Josh O'Connor.
As reported by Variety, O'Connor is reportedly being considered for the drama "Separate Rooms," an adaptation of the eponymous novel by the late Italian writer Pier Vittorio Tondelli.
Per Variety, the story follows an Italian writer named Leo who is mourning the loss of his boyfriend. The book is divided into three parts, with a mix of flashbacks and reflections, recounting their love affair over three decades.
"The two meet when they wish, but live separately, secluding themselves in their respective loneliness, though they often write each other," Variety reports. "At one point, Thomas starts an affair with a girl, which makes Leo deeply jealous. Then Thomas is diagnosed with an illness that will lead to his death in his hometown of Munich."
That illness is presumed to be AIDS, which claimed the book's author, Tondelli, in 1991 at the age of 36.
So far, no peaches have been mentioned. However, Guadagnino always likes to keep audiences guessing.
O'Connor, who stars in Guadagnino's upcoming "Challengers" alongside Zendaya and Mike Faist, has reportedly already been studying Italian for the role, though he is not yet contracted.
When asked when the production will begin, Guadagnino this weekend announced in Italy's La Repubblica's weekly magazine Venerdì that he will shoot the film "soon."
And we can't wait!
