Watch: Omar Apollo Delves into Long-Distance Relationship Blues with New Single, Video

Out singer Omar Apollo grooves to long-distance yearning in his new single "Spite" and its accompanying video.
The song "features a disgruntled Apollo trying to maintain his composure, as he can't be close to the one he loves," Uproxx said.
"I'm too far, I'm across the boat now / Ain't been the same since I left my hometown," the 26-year-old recording artist sings in the song's first verse. "I've been thinking 'bout moving by you / It's been nice having somewhere to fly to."
There's a downside, however, and Apollo gets to it in Verse 2:
"Why you gotta ruin every night? / Fifty K, I spend it out of spite," he sings in the line that gives the song its name. "Every time I see you on my phonе / Hate that I still need you in my life."
"'Spite' is a song about a long-distance relationship and wanting to show the other person that you're okay without them even though you feel like you need them," the singer explained in a statement about the new single, Uproxx reported.
"It's an angry song about not being able to have someone all to yourself."
The video suggests some feelings of fury, with snippets of Apollo dancing in an all-red outfit in a room dominated by a red carpet. The color pops up throughout the video, as lovers make out under a red light. Apollo appears in a multi-colored sweater mostly given over to the color, and various outdoor settings include red-walled buildings.
Equally dramatic hues take center stage at other moments, as when action is staged against blue backdrops or close-ups show off the black midriff shirt and trousers worn by a ripped male dancer.
Anger, Apollo has hinted previously, is a primary mood on his upcoming second album. He told VMan Magazine in February that he's "more angry on this album," and added that "A lot of the songs are leaning toward anger."
Have a look at the new video, below, and decide for yourself how much anger, versus longing, it conveys.
