Watch: Chappell Roan Makes a Sad Admission About Her Career

Chappell Roan is one of the music industry's top rising stars. Yet, according to her, her star might be rising a little too quickly.

In a tearful address to her concert audience on Wednesday night, the Missouri-born singer-songwriter said she was having a "really hard time" keeping up with her sudden popularity, Variety reported.

The "Good Luck Babe!" singer has absolutely searched in popularity, with her debut album "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess" hitting no. 1 on iTunes and her live gigs getting significantly upgraded. Tennessee's Bonnaroo festival just announced that her set was being moved to a main stage because of an expected larger turnout.

"I'm trying to figure out how to say this," she said, choking on her words. "I just want to be honest with the crowd, and I just feel a little off today because I think that my career's just kind of gone really fast and it's really hard to keep up. And so, I'm just being honest that I'm just having a hard time today."

Roan then apologized to the crowd for having "a lot on my mind."

She added, "This is all I've ever wanted, it's just heavy sometimes, so thank you."

Roan has Bipolar II disorder, and in May of 2022 she wrote a short essay about how the disorder makes it difficult for her to "regulate" her emotions.

"I'm working through it the best I can and I'm grateful I have the means to afford therapy and occasional time off," said Roan at the time. "Everything is very exciting right now and I'm realizing that success actually makes me quite uncomfortable and self conscious and I'm not sure why yet. If ur an artist (indie or not) this career is fucking hard, and I feel you."
