French Pole Vaulter Anthony Ammirati's Junk Keeps Him from Earning an Olympic Medal

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

"French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati missed out on earning a medal at his home Olympics when his crotch got caught on the crossbar," reports the Associated Press.

"The 21-year-old went to clear the crossbar when his crotch caught the bar and he fell to the ground. After four attempts, Ammirati finished with a combined score of 5.60 and in 12th position, not enough to advance to the final."

It appeared that Ammirati was going to "clear 5.70m until a sensitive part of his body denied him during his third attempt on Saturday, leaving viewers in hysterics on social media," writes the Daily Mail.

A video of the jump immediately went viral on social media. It clearly shows his substantial pole catching on the cross bar and bringing it down.

In a comment to the French Athletics Federation, the disappointed athlete said: "It's a big disappointment. I'm a bit gutted, because I didn't miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70 m. What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session. I had to give up the last two, because after a small grade 1 in the adductor, I prioritised the race. I was 100% physically, but I was missing a bit of pole vault. The conditions were good. It's the first time I've started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to play with the public. I was almost there."

It was just the latest event in what's an Olympic meme surrounding men's private parts. There has already been controversy over swimsuits revealing too much or by being on subscription social media sites such as OnlyFans; now comes the video of Ammirati that clearly shows his foul has entered the mix. And for a very big reason.
