Fans watching "Drag Race" queen Detox perform at a Drag Pac show witnessed a historic moment as Detox folded a special message into song lyrics: "I'm trans now!"

The "Drag Race" Season 5 fourth-place runner-up appeared "alongside season-four star and 'Drag Race' firebrand Willam to perform their single 'Chow Down (at Chick-fil-A),' a social commentary parody of Wilson Phillips' hit, 'Hold On'," Pink News detailed.

The Aug. 21 performance took place in Chicago at a "get out the vote event," local newspaper the Sun Times reported.

"In the song's original first verse, Detox is heard in the background declaring that she's 'a top'," Pink News recalled, "but during the live rendition in Chicago – which was shared on TikTok – the season-five and 'All Stars 2' finalist revealed: 'I'm trans now'."

Detox is the latest in a long line of "Drag race" royalty to reveal that they are trans. Season 12 star Gigi Goode came out in 2021 with an Instagram post; the following year, no fewer than four "Drag Race" alumnae publicly embraced their authenticity, including Season 14 cast member Jasmine Kennedie and her fellow Season 14 competitor Willow Pill, Season 9 and 10 star Eureka O'Hare, and Season 9 star Trinity the Tuck; Jade Jolie came out as trans in 2023, as did Adore Delano from "Drag Race" Season 6 and "All Stars" Season 2" and Farrah Moan of "Drag Race" Season 9 and "All Stars" Season 4; and, in January of this year, Madame Cassandra Uzumaki LaQueer retired her old stage name of Madame LaQueer, adopted her current moniker, and announced that she is trans in an Instagram Stories post.
