Morrissey In Fine Voice for Boca Raton Concert

Morrissey--former frontman for the Smiths, tunemeister for the hopeless and despondent--had to cancel several gigs late last month due to a throat infection, but he was back in form earlier this week and delivering the goods to thrilled and adoring fans.

That's good news to Florida ticket-holders for Saturday's show, slated to take place at Boca Raton's Mizner Park Amphitheater at 8 p.m., July 14.

The trouble started June 26 during a Boston concert date at the Bank of America Pavilion, when the grandmaster of gloom was forced to end his set after only seven songs.

Initially, it was hoped that Morrissey would bounce right back, and he made a go of it July 2 in Vienna, VA. But that show proved too much, forcing Morrissey to postpone several more appearances, including shows in Baltmore, Atlantic City, and New York.

When the infection persisted, he consulted an ear, nose, and throat specialist who issued orders for the alt-rocker to stay offstage until July 7.

That did the trick; Morrissey made his July 7 date--for a Boston make-up concert. "He went; he returns," he told the cheering crowd.

That date was followed up by a show he'd postponed in Northampton, VA, where fan not only forgave him for making them wait, but went into frenzies when he threw his sweaty shirt into their midst.

Morrissey has been on the road since late April, with about 50 shows on his itinerary. The tour promotes Ringleader of the Tormentors, Morrissey's eighth solo album.

Tickets for Saturday's Boca Raton show are available from Stubhub.com, for $49 - $164.
