Beckham Comes to the US... with a New Men's Fragrance in Tote

Jason Salzenstein READ TIME: 2 MIN.

By now we all know that David and Victoria Beckham (AKA Posh & Becks) are moving to Los Angeles this year and have been spotted shopping, house-hunting and looking fabulous in and around Beverly HIlls. What we didn't know- until now- is that along with their children, entourage and fabulousity, Becks will also be bringing a new fragrance to us Yanks.

According to Coty, "there are very few men that balance masculinity and style quite like David Beckham." And of course that means that he needs a fragrance as an extension of his "brand," Known for his fashion (and strength) both on and off the field, this new scent and feeling has apparently been captured in a new fragrance- INSTINCT by David Beckham.

We can hope that the scent is based more on his aura and style rather than his, well, actual scent, especially after a game. It's described in press notes as a blend of both classic and contemporary. What did David have to say about it?

"I believe fragrance helps express aspects of your mood and personality," says David Beckham. "I enjoyed working with Coty Beauty as they really listened to my ideas and together we created a fragrance that I am proud of. I am pleased that people in the States will get an opportunity to experience it."

Hmm. It's almost so convincing that you'd think he did it to share his love with us... rather than the millions of dollars he's raking in as a result!

INSTINCT is said to "embody the inner strength and power that all men possess, the intuition that drives ambition and results in success." It's scent is based on a base of invigorating Italian bergamot, grapefruit and mandarin leaf notes, followed by a "provocative" blend of spicy red pimento, warm star anise and fusing cardamom notes. The scent ends with a seductive wave of precious Haiti vetiver, intense patchouli and an almost touchable hint of white amber.

David Beckham's timeless style is carried through in the packaging of INSTINCT as well. The fragrance comes in a strikingly understated glass bottle with an intricate base that features the cut of a sparkling diamond -- a subtle testament to David Beckham's sophisticated style. Adding to the overall experience of the fragrance is a unique and innovative metal cap that forcibly pulls back onto the bottle with a definitive click at the end of each use. For the finishing touch, a sleek black metallic label adorns each bottle and features the name and logo in embossed silver.

Not helping his image any is the fragrance's distribution. Forget Neimans, Saks, Nordstrom or even Sephora. Nope- INSTINCT will be available to the masses at drugstores, JC Penney's, Sears, Kohl's, and ULTA stores. Not so glamorous. The Eau de Toilette Spray will be sell for $32 for 1 oz. and $50 for 2.5 oz. and a Deodorant will be available for $16.
