Let the sun shine in

David Foucher READ TIME: 1 MIN.

It's another damp New England day when I speak on the phone to Lori Michaels. She counsels me to hang on. "We're bringing the sexy sunshine to P'town," she promises. "That's a special type of sunshine, darling!"

The energetic singer/songwriter sounds like just the person to light up a chilly evening. After sold out performances at Women's Week last year, Michaels has been spreading the love across the country at Pride events and other venues with her steamy show "Me and the Girls." Flanked by two backup dancers, the soulful singer purrs and growls her way through a set of high energy originals and covers. It may not be a show to take your mother to - but don't get the wrong idea and don't wave dollar bills.

"It's a little risque, but it's not trashy," says Michaels. "We push the envelope a little. We've been called the sexiest interactive show out there. We get the audience really involved. We do our best to engage the crowd. We might pull some people up on stage. It's good fun, it's not like a strip club. Erotic, exotic, those are great words."

So forget the dollar bills but do bring your dancing shoes to The Pied, where "Me and the Girls" will heat things up for a very memorable Memorial Day Weekend. 5 p.m. Fri.-Sun. at The Pied Bar, 193 Commercial St, Provincetown.
