More than three months after he was found stabbed to death in a Dorchester apartment, there have been no arrests in connection with the murder of Daniel Yakovleff, a 20-year-old openly gay hair stylist.

"No one has been arrested in connection with his death," said Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley.

Bay Windows contacted Wark after receiving a tip that a grand jury investigation into Yakovleff's murder was underway. Wark declined to comment on a grand jury investigation, saying that such investigations are not made public.

"Grand jury proceedings are by their nature confidential, so it's very rare for us even to acknowledge their existence," said Wark.

While declining to discuss the Yakovleff case, Wark said that it is very common for the DA's office to convene a grand jury before making an arrest in a case.

"It's often helpful for us to gather as much information as possible in advance of an arrest so we are prepared before charging someone with the most serious crime there is," said Wark.

Yakovleff's body was discovered on Jan. 17 in an apartment on Tuttle Street in Dorchester. The tenant, Steven Odegard has been identified as a "person of interest" in the case by Boston Police, but has denied any wrongdoing. Yakovleff, who worked at the South End salon Liquid Hair Studios, was last seen at the Eagle, a South End gay bar.
