HX drops suit against Berggren

HX in Boston, parent company of the New England Blade, filed a dismissal of its suit against the paper's former associate publisher, Bill Berggren, April 22. HX sued Berggren for using the Blade's ad sales database to solicit ads for his own LGBT magazine, N'Touch New England. In February a superior court judge issued a 45-day injunction against Berggren forbidding him from doing business with any clients in the Blade's advertiser database. The injunction expired last month.

Mark McGrath, Berggren's attorney, declined to say why HX dropped its suit. He said that the dismissal frees Berggren to resume work in the LGBT media, and he is no longer restricted from doing business with Blade advertisers. Jeffrey Pyle, HX's attorney, did not return a call to comment for this story.

Berggren has ceased publishing N'Touch and is now working as an outside sales agent for Bay Windows.

"At this point I'm just going to let N'Touch go and I am very happily working as an agent for Bay Windows, and I'm looking forward to continue my service in the GLBT community, doing clubs and nightlife and selling ads for Bay Windows," said Berggren.

Berggren began representing Bay Windows on April 7, after the injunction expired.
