Boston Harbor Hotel Kicks Off Summer Entertainment Series

Starting June 20, 2008, Boston's waterfront will come alive with the sounds and sights of live music and classic movies as the 9th annual Summer in the City Entertainment Series kicks off at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Summer in the City, one of Boston's most anticipated outdoor summer traditions features four free nights of entertainment weekly through the end of August. This year the entertainment extravaganza has been honored by the Massachusetts Lodging Association as the Best Ongoing Special Event in the state and by Yankee Magazine as a 2008 Editors' Choice.

Each Summer in the City week will begin with Summer Soul on Tuesday nights, featuring ten different R&B and Motown performers throughout the summer season. Wednesday evenings will bring the big band sounds of the White Heat Orchestra to the waterfront, encouraging dancing under the stars with Summer Swing. The Blues Barge, a floating barge anchored behind the Boston Harbor Hotel, will serve as the summer stage for some of the hottest local and national blues artists on Thursday nights. Friday evenings brings the silver screen to the waterfront with Movies by Moonlight, celebrating old Hollywood by projecting classic films onto a giant screen positioned on one of the most scenic outlooks of Boston Harbor.

Summer Soul

Summer Soul, kicking off with the World Premier Band, will take place every Tuesday night from June 24 through August 26, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    Summer Swing

    Summer Swing invites guests to dance the night away under Boston's summer sky to the sounds of the White Heat Orchestra, a high-energy big band playing swing and jazz from the 1930s and 1940s, on Wednesday evenings from June 25 through August 27, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    The Blues Barge series kicks off with James Montgomery on June 26 and will include performances every Thursday evening through August 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

    The Movies by Moonlight

    The Movies by Moonlight series invites guests to view classic films of old Hollywood in an unmatched setting looking out onto theBoston Harbor from the hotel's Intrigue Caf? Terrace on Rowes Wharf. The 2008 series will begin with an opening showing of Gaslight on June 20 and will continue every Friday night through August 19, beginning at dusk (movies are subject to change, weather permitting).
