EDGE READ TIME: 1 MIN.

The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire presents the December Extraordinary Cinema lineup including some potential Oscar contenders Rachel Getting Married and A Girl Cut in Two.

Other films include Across the Universe, Happy Go Lucky, Mamma Mia!, and Frozen River, Melissa Leo's star turn in a riveting tale of two women who, driven by economic hardship, smuggle illegal immigrants across the Canadian border.

Mamma Mia Sing Along is up next for two nights only and is followed by the French thriller A Girl Cut in Two.

From there it's on to a great cast led by Anne Hathaway in Jonathan Demme's latest, Rachel Getting Married.

Happy Go Lucky returns to the Hall after its wonderful reception at this fall's Telluride by the Sea and then the month closes out with the Wildcard Movie on Tuesday December 30 with Across the Universe, a Julie Taymor visual feast replete with Beatles' music.

Following this psychedelic film that is reaching cult status, local dancer/actor/assistant choreographer Christopher Tierney will be available to talk in the lobby about his experience working on the film.

The Wildcard Movie will start at 8:00 pm with the post-film discussion in the lobby.

Following the Wildcard Movie discussion, a Speakeasy will take place from 10 pm to 1 am in the Founders Lobby.

The historic hall is located in Portsmouth, the seaport city recently named a "Distinctive Destination" for 2008 by National Trust for Historic Preservation and one of the "20 Best Towns in America" by Outside magazine (July 2008).
