READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Early in his career Ryan Gosling played a man enamored by a life-size sex doll, in the 2007 dramedy "Lars and the Real Girl." This week Deadline announced his next role will be that of a real-life doll – and perhaps the most famous male doll in world: Ken, Barbie's boyfriend.

Gosling is said to be in final negotiations, according to Deadline, to star opposite Margot Robbie in the upcoming film, to be directed by actress/director Greta Gerwig ("Ladybird").

Gosling was said to have initially passed on the role due to his busy schedule, but is able to take part because of delays in the film's production. And it appears that with his participation, "the film looks to be on the verge of a greenlight, and the hope would be to shoot at the top of 2022. Gerwig co-wrote the script with Noah Baumbach," adds Deadline.

Most recently, Gosling wrapped production on the Netflix action pic"The Gray Man,"in which he starsopposite Chris Evans, with the Russo Brothers directing.
