Lil Nas X returned to social media after months away following the "birth" of his debut album, "Montero," last September...and he broke the news that another is on the way, according to Vulture.
Nas X's cheeky humor and willingness to subvert stereotypes has enraged conservatives in the past, but the out recording star's signature wit was on full display once again when he jumped back into the social media world.
"i'm so happy i'm back on the internet," Nas X declared in his March 16 tweet. "i missed me so much."
More jests were quick to follow.
"why are people surprised i've been away for so long?" Nas X added, according to New York Daily News. "have y'all really never heard of maternity leave?"
The joke was a reference to the way Naz X portrayed the arrival of "Montero" as a baby's delivery, following a controversial image of himself with a pregnant belly.
The Daily News detailed that Nas X offered an additional explanation for his three-month silence. "'ok I'll be honest I haven't been posting online because I gotta a bbl' – the popular cosmetic surgery procedure known as Brazilian Butt Lift."
Nas X teased that his followup album is "almost finished," Vulture recounted, adding that the hip-hop artist had posted screenshots of two new songs.
"One is a feature with YoungBoy currently titled 'late to the party,' and the other is a track called 'down souf hoes' featuring ultimate material gurl Saucy Santana," Vulture said.
"which one y'all want first?" Nas X asked.
"The 'Old Town Road' chart-topper is scheduled to perform at the 2022 Grammy Awards on April 3," the Daily News noted.
