'Heartstopper' Star Joe Locke: I Want Jennifer Coolidge as My Cool Grandma!

She played Stiffler's Mom in the "American Pie" movies and, more recently, a hot mess named Tanya in Mike White's hit HBO comedy "The White Lotus." Will Jennifer Coolidge grace the screen in Season Two of the smash Netflix hit "Heartstopper?"

Star Joe Locke hopes so. Locke name-checked Coolidge in a red carpet interview at the recent BAFTA Television Awards with Radio Times, reminding the outlet that in the current first season of the show his co-star, Kit Connor, "got Olivia Colman," who played the mother of Connor's bisexual character, Nick.

"I want Jennifer Coolidge," Locke declared.

Locke explained the role he had in mind for the popular actor. "I want Jennifer Coolidge to be my cool grandma. My American grandma. That would be quite cool."

It would also be fitting, since Coolidge's Tanya was one the many bright spots about "The White Lotus," which also featured out Australian hottie Murray Bartlett ("Looking") as a gay resort manager who, at one point, becomes entangled with a handsome employee (played by Lukas Gage). The hookup led to one of TV's most memorable gay moments.

Like "The White Lotus," "Heartstopper" is centered around an ensemble cast; unlike "The White Lotus," though, the sweet, budding romance between two gay teens takes center stage, as other characters and storylines (including a lesbian couple and a transgender character) orbit the central narrative.

Such casting is, like a second season of the show, just a matter of wishing at this point. Asked whether a followup to the current eight episode season is forthcoming, Locke said, "I will be the last person to be told." But, he added, "We want there to be."
