Carl Nassib was with the Las Vegas Raiders when he came out as gay, becoming the first active NFL player to do so. Now he's signed to a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team he was with before coming out, USA Today reported.

Nassib, 29, has "agreed to a one-year deal," according to ESPN, which broke the story.

"Nassib came out June 21 of last year in an Instagram post," USA Today recalled, "and also announced a $100,000 donation to the Trevor Project, which works to eliminate suicide cases among the LGBTQ+ community."

ESPN recounted that Nassib spent "two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, starting five of 17 games and recording four sacks, eight tackles for a loss, 33 combined tackles, five passes defensed, an interception and a forced fumble."
