Hugh Jackman Promises 'Big Bombshells' in Planned Autobiography

An insider revealed to Us Weekly that Hugh Jackman is writing his autobiography. "He is in the early stages of writing it."

Jackman made news in September when it was announced that his 27-year old marriage to Deborra-Lee Furness is coming to an end. "As Us previously reported, the decision to part ways didn't come easy for Jackman and Furness. 'There was no drama or fighting – not that anyone is aware of, anyway,' a source recently said. 'Hugh and Deb just reached a point where they were more like best friends.'"

The couple share two kids, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18 whom they adopted.

The insider continued: "Hugh's choosing to [write this book] now because he's finally [being] honest with himself [and] the divorce," says the insider, "and this book is the first step."

And, Us Weekly adds: "Divorce isn't the only thing Jackman plans to touch on in his book. The insider promises there will be 'big bombshells.' The content will be Hugh speaking about his life. He'll be opening up about his life like never before." Thus far, they add: "It's been very healing for him."

What could have prompted the changes in the Aussie actor's life was his being in therapy since 2022 "to help him cope with unresolved childhood trauma, stemming from his mother, Grace McNeil, leaving when he was just 8 years old," writes Us Weekly. "I just started it recently. It helped me a lot. We all need a village," Jackman said in an interview with the Australian magazine (reported by NBC News.) "Having someone really smart, who's a little bit removed from your world, can be really helpful." He continued: "Most importantly, It's helping me to be more relational with the people I love in my life, and really understanding and living in their shoes and being clear to be able to see them."

No doubt the divorce, which is amicable but complicated due the personal and financial intertwining of the couples' lives, will be a major topic of the book. Could their age difference have been a factor? Jackman is 54 and Furness is 67? Or could it be the elephant in the room – the rumors that Jackman is gay that have persisted throughout his career – that will be the big reveal. Page Six writes that over the years both Jackman and Furness have addressed the rumors with a mix of humor and annoyance, but dismissing them. In 2011 Furness told Page Six: "The line I heard was, 'Wolverine? Who would have thought?' Hugh and I don't pay much heed. It's kind of tragic that these people have nothing better to do than gossip about people they don't know."

Then in 2020 the website Marca reports that Furness again addressed the issue on the Australian talk show Anh's Brush With Fame where she joked: "He's been gay so many years. I was gay, too. You know when I did 'Shame'? I was gay. They were shocked when I got married."

But she turned serious to add that the speculation was "just wrong," and compared it to someone saying to Elton John, "He's straight." "I'm sure he'd be pissed," she said at the time.
