Which NFL Team Has the Gayest Logo? Or Why is Pat Patriot Bent Over?
READ TIME: 4 MIN.
OutSports has revived a NFL meme that is simply hilarious by rating the gayest franchise logos. What prompted their interest was the return this weekend of Pat Patriot as the New England team's official logo on "throwback" helmets and shirts. It was the second time this season that Pat turned up, and it is the second season that the Pats have used Pat on their alternative uniforms.
But just what makes Pat gay? It could be that he's kinda hot dressed as a Revolutionary War soldier with a red tricolor hat, blue jacket, and white athletic pants tucked into high red socks. Or that he's bent over holding a football with a grimace that suggests there's something going on behind him that is bringing both some pleasure and pain.
But Pat isn't OutSports first choice; it takes the silver medal in the queer sports website rating of the top three.
Taking the bronze is another retired logo, that of the Houston Oilers from 1961 – 1968. He is another super macho kind of guy, in tip-top shape, with a few days beard, hairy forearms, spurs, cowboy boots, and a tight pair of jeans with lines moving towards his package in a way that suggests there's things are bigger in Texas. Outsports calls him Roughneck, and writes he is "a nice visualization of everyone's cowboy fantasy, down to the phallic-like derricks in the background ready to gush." Who knows, maybe Roughneck is top to Pat's bottom. And Roughneck was a butcher version of an earlier logo that featured the same macho man, but without the scruff and wearing decidedly unbutch gold cowboy boots and hat, looking more "Urban Cowboy" than John Wayne. Roughneck still wears the boots, but they have a more subdued color and the cowboy hat is replaced with hard hat. He looks like he's just finished a double-shift in the oil fields and is headed out to have a few beers at a gay Houston watering hole.
