NY Fashion Week :: The Products!

PJ Gach READ TIME: 6 MIN.

Fashion Week has a big secret: It's not just about fashion. It's also the perfect time to launch beauty and skincare products. Why? Because Fashion Week is the only time of the year when American based editors and reporters from around the country are in the same place for a week. Firms throw lunches, breakfasts, and cocktail parties and in just an hour, can capture ten editors' interest in their new offerings.

Here's a sampling of some of the great new product that we found on the ground at Fashion Week ::

Tresemme Salon Chic

Tresemme had an interactive launch for their new Smoothing Collection that lasted the length of Fashion Week A lounge/booth in the main tent in Bryant Park was staffed with stylists, on-hand, ready, willing and able to fluff-up and create new styles for anyone who was fortunate enough to take a seat. The blow dryers were buzzin' and curling irons were always hot. Not interested in getting fluffed? Passersby could pick up sample sizes of their Moisture Rich shampoo and conditioner and the truly amazing Tres Two extra hold hair spray.

Tresemme's smoothing collection is designed to conquer frizzy and flyaway hair; use the products once and you'll see a difference. Hair looks healthy and shiny, feels soft- not greasy- and the results last for days. The collection includes nine products, from shampoo to the Simply No Frizz Spray Gel.

Need more body, more bounce? Check out the Tresemme 24 Hour Body or Curl collections. Like the Smoothing Collection, both contain everything from shampoo to finishing spray.

All of their collections have Tresemme's signature fruit scent, which is fresh and perky. Have frizzy hair that's also limp? Combine 24 Hour Body and Smoothing Collection products. Yes- you can mix and match products to create a custom hair care system for yourself.

What's the absolute best thing about all the Tresemme products? (I mean besides the fact that they all work fantabulously well?) It's the price! All the products are under $5.

You can find Tresemme products at food, drug and mass retailers nationwide. To learn about Tresemme styling tips or to check out their products, go to www.tresemme.com

Vicky Goes Green- and Vegan!

Givenchy & India: A Breathtaking Combo

Givenchy threw a tasty breakfast to launch their beautiful spring collection. Artist Director Nicolas Degennes started researching the Maharani Spring color collection back in 2001, way before anyone even thought of combining the words slumdog and millionaire. Using Aishwarya Rai and Deepika Pundokone as inspiration, Degennes created a collection full of clear spring-like colors that multi-task their way to a sexy visage. The collection includes rich creamy lipsticks ($27), Magic Kajal Eye Liner ($21) and Sari Glow blushes ($42) that comes in a warm orange and cool pink.

The Precious Sari Glittering Eye Shadow ($26) comes in silver and gold, and can also be used to highlight d?colletage, shoulders or where ever you want interest to land. Prisissime ($53) are nine squares of color in a compact that can be used for eyes, cheeks, separately or as one grand sweep of color. The Prisissimes come in two shades, Maharani Apricot or Maharani Pinks.

The Maharani Collection can only be found at Sephora and www.sephora.com Hurry! The collection is limited.

Badgley Mischka Couture for your skin

Put seasoned fashion and beauty journalists in a room with designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka and watch them turn into squealing teens. The duo just released their latest fragrance, Badgley Mischka Couture ($42 - $120).

James Mischka told the assembled group that the "fragrance should always evoke a red carpet moment for a woman." He went on to say, that they duo wanted the fragrance to "make you feel like you're wearing a couture gown."

The bottle design was inspired by Brancusi, and the scent is heady, rich and sensual. Couture starts off with the fruit scents of purple plum, peach nectar and blackberry; as the fragrance starts to settle, blossoms of jasmine, gardenia and violet start to bloom. The fragrance lasts more than 8-hours and as it lingers on your skin, musk and amber (the dry-down or settled fragrance) slowly opens up.

The fragrance collection can be found at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Belk, Bloomingdales, Saks and other fine department stores. Online you can find it at www.nordstrom.com & www.neimanmarcus.com & www.bergdorfgoodman.com

The cosmetics are in the pink family, the hot color group for spring. Five products- Highlighter/Blush Duo in Fresh; Eye Shadow Quad in Devoted, Primal, Rich and Champagne; High-definition Mascara in Blackest Black; Lip Gloss in Blush; a mirror, and step-by-step instructions on how to look fab all contained in a white zippered case.
