Twin Bros Respond to HGTV Canceling Show Over Anti-Gay Controversy

The Benham brothers are once again responding to Home & Garden TV's decison to pull the plug on "Flip it Forward," a reality show that was scheduled to debut in October, hours after it was revealed that at least one of the hosts, who are twin brothers, expressed anti-gay views in the past.

After HGTV nixed the show, David and Jason Benham. released a statement on their website, saying they were "saddened" over the network's decision, but that "Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying."

The brothers spoke about the issue again on CNN Thursday, reiterating their views and said HGTV did not tell them why the show was canceled. After he was played a quote where he condemned homosexuality, David Benham said:

"One of the things that is important, is that never have I ever spoken against homosexuals as individuals, and gone against them. I speak about an agenda - and that's really what the point of this is; there is an agenda that is seeking to silence men and women of faith and that's what all this is about.

"Absolutely I believe any sex outside of marriage, no matter what kind of sex it is, is just not healthy for human flourishing before God," he continued. "I think it's just an important thing that we set the record straight. I'm grateful for the opportunity to say directly to the camera, 'We love homosexuals. We love Muslims and we have absolutely nothing against the people.' There's a difference between the people and an agenda."

The brothers added they aren't mad at HGTV and that their "hearts break" for the network. They said they still have a good relationship with HGTV officials and believe HGTV was bullied into canceling the show because the brothers have a "pro-family" view.
